Frequently Asked Questions

What is the multicolour Trek colourway?

A blend that carries the rust, green and grey shot through natural slate, rather than a single flat colour. It hides dirt well, which suits entries and mudrooms.

What sizes does Trek come in?

Field tiles at 12x12 and 12x24, mosaics at 12x12, bullnose at 3x24 and cove base at 6x12.

How is it different from Essence?

Essence is the cleaner, more uniform slate face in larger formats. Trek is more rustic, includes the multicolour blend and stays in smaller sizes.

Is it suitable for a covered porch?

Yes. Porcelain is frost proof and does not absorb water. For an uncovered patio at ground level, use the 20 mm Frontier20 range instead.

Trek Slate Look Porcelain

Trek is the more rustic of the two slate faces. Alongside the plain black, grey and beige it carries a multicolour blend, the rust and green shot through a natural slate that a single colour print cannot show, which is what makes a slate floor look quarried rather than manufactured.

The formats are smaller than the rest of the range, 12x12 and 12x24, and that suits the material. Slate reads as a stone laid piece by piece; in a 24x48 format it starts to look like a photograph of slate rather than a slate floor.

Sizes and pieces

  • Field tiles at 12x12 and 12x24
  • Mosaics at 12x12
  • Bullnose at 3x24
  • Cove base at 6x12

Where it works

Entries, mudrooms, cabin bathrooms and covered porches. The multicolour blend hides dirt better than almost any other face in the catalogue, which is the practical reason slate ended up in hallways in the first place.

The cleaner slate face is Essence. See also slate look tile.
