Ceramic · Tiles
Glossy ceramic subway tiles at three by six inches in a brown called Acorn, with a bevelled edge. Fifty pieces go in a box for 6.21 square feet. Six other sizes carry the same glaze.

Design
Three by six is the original subway proportion, and brown ceramic tiles in that format read as older than they are, which is usually the point. The bevel puts a shadow at every edge, so a running bond looks like brickwork rather than a flat grid. Slight variation between pieces keeps the field from going dead. Chocolate Mousse unsanded grout is listed with it, and an ogee trim in the same Acorn finishes the top of a run. Fifty pieces to a box sounds generous until you count how many a wall takes at 0.12 square feet each, so measure before ordering rather than after.
6.21 square feet at 0.12 per piece.
Every tile edge picks up a shadow line.
Where to use it
Interior walls at home and in commercial work, backsplash, shower walls and light residential traffic all appear, with bathroom, living room and kitchen as rooms. Twelve boxes reach 60 square feet. Small tiles mean many cuts, and ceramic takes those on a hand cutter, so a busy wall is not a difficult job. Two trims match the glaze, an edge trim and a finish trim.

Why we chose it
Nothing needs sealing. Ordinary tile cleaner keeps the glaze bright, and the bevel holds a little grout haze, so rinse it thoroughly when grouting is done.
