Marble · Tiles
Polished marble tiles a foot square with a bevelled edge, from the checkerboard field tile range in Alpina White. Each tile is a square foot, ten to a box. Pieces are logged as uniform, so they look alike.

Design
A twelve inch square in a uniform white stone is the classic half of a chequerboard, and the collection name says as much. Uniformity is what makes that work: if every white tile carried different veining the pattern would fall apart. The bevel gives each piece an edge line of its own, which on a chequer helps the squares hold their shape. Polishing reflects the room and deepens what grey the stone has. Sivec polished marble is also stocked at 18x18 and 2 3/4x5 1/2, with five mosaic formats and a matching pencil liner.
Ten tiles, ten square feet a box.
Pieces look alike, which a chequer pattern needs.
Where to use it
Interior floors and walls in both homes and commercial work are recorded, along with shower walls and light residential traffic, and the rooms listed are kitchen, living room and bathroom. Seven boxes cover 60 square feet. A polished floor dulls first along the line people walk, so a mat at the door is worth having. This marble is not rated frost resistant, meaning it stays inside.
Ten square feet each, 60 square feet covered.
Not rated frost resistant.

Why we chose it
Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years. Use a pH neutral stone cleaner, and wipe lemon, vinegar and wine off rather than leaving them on the polish.
