Marble · Mosaics
Carrara T marble mosaic cut into 1 1/4 by 6 bars and honed onto a 12x12 sheet. Where the Alpina version of this format is uniform, Carrara carries moderate variation, which is the whole reason people choose it.

Design
Carrara is bought for its veining, and moderate variation means individual bars genuinely differ from one another. Across a sheet that produces a surface with constant small incident rather than a flat field. Honing keeps it matte so the veining reads through contrast alone. Four trims are cut from the same stone: a pencil liner, a cornice, a base and a second pencil. Gray marble mosaics with this much movement reward being dry laid first, so the stronger veining can be spread rather than left to cluster.
Moderate variation means each piece brings its own veining.
Pencil liner, cornice, base and a 3/4x12 pencil.

Where to use it
Bath floors and walls, commercial and residential interior floors and walls, shower floors and walls, backsplash and residential light floors all appear, with living room, bathroom and kitchen recorded. Ten boxes cover 60 square feet. A sample is offered, and with veining varying between pieces it tells you more than an image can. Seven sheets fill a box and each covers a square foot, which keeps the counting simple.
Seven square feet a box over 60 square feet.
Veining differs piece to piece, so a physical sample matters.

Why we chose it
Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years. Carrara marks readily where acid lands, so spills want wiping quickly and cleaning stays with a pH neutral stone product.
