Limestone · Tiles
Honed limestone tiles cut as hexagons at 5 25/32 by 5 inches. Sixteen pieces per box cover 2.4 square feet. A threshold 4x36 matches, and the same stone runs through four other formats.
Design
Limestone has an even texture and small fossil traces instead of the veining marble carries, which makes it a good match for a shape that already does plenty of work. White limestone tiles in a hexagon read as pattern from across a room and as texture up close. Honing leaves the surface matte, and on a pale stone that finish also hides the wear path that a polish would eventually show. Paris is stocked as a 12x24, an 18x18, a small 2 3/4x5 1/2 and three mosaic designs. Sixteen pieces to a box is not many, so count the area carefully and order the spares in the same run rather than later.

Where to use it
Backsplash is the rating on file, with bathroom as the room. Backsplash tiles in a hexagon need the top row thought through, since a hexagon does not finish on a straight line without being cut. Twenty nine boxes would be needed for 60 square feet, a function of the small coverage per box. Limestone is porous, so a penetrating sealer goes on once it is fixed.
Hexagons need cutting to finish on a straight line.
Porous stone takes a penetrating sealer after fitting.

Why we chose it
Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years where it stays damp. Clean with a pH neutral stone cleaner only, because acid etches limestone quickly.
