Porcelain · Mosaics
Porcelain mosaics in the hexagon 2 design, on rectified sheets of 10 3/8 by 12 inches and five sixteenths of an inch deep. The colour is Smoke White, from the Stonehill porcelain collection. A box holds six sheets, 5.16 square feet in all.

Design
Rectified means the edges have been machine ground to an exact size after firing, which is what allows a joint of about a sixteenth to an eighth of an inch. On a hexagon that precision matters more than it would on a square, because six edges have to line up with six others at every meeting point. Smoke White is a soft grey white, and the same colour runs through a 24x24 tile and a herringbone mosaic where a wall calls for two formats cut from the same material. Porcelain is dense, with water absorption under half a percent, so it takes nothing up and needs no sealing.
Ground edges allow about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
A 24x24 tile and a herringbone mosaic share the colour.

Where to use it
One approval is listed, residential interior walls. Bathroom is the room logged against it. White porcelain mosaics arrive mesh backed and go up as one piece, so a hexagon field does not have to be set piece by piece. Getting to 60 square feet takes fourteen boxes once waste is counted in. Porcelain is harder to cut than ceramic, so a wet saw with a porcelain blade is the tool for the cuts at the edges of the run.
Six sheets, fourteen boxes for 60 square feet.
Porcelain needs a proper blade, not a snap cutter.

Why we chose it
No sealer is needed. Any standard tile cleaner works. Brilliant white unsanded grout is listed alongside if you want the joints to disappear.
