Semi gloss and matte plank
Semi gloss is the dominant finish here by a wide margin, with matte second and brushed third. There is effectively no polished option.
That is the reverse of every tile range in this catalog, where matte leads almost everywhere. The reason is the material being copied. A finished wood floor has a sheen, because it has been sealed, and a floor that is dead flat in the light does not read as wood. Tile imitates stone, and quarried stone is not shiny. Each format inherits the optical habits of the thing it is standing in for.
A single supplier
Every plank in this catalog comes from a single manufacturer. That is unusual, and it has consequences for a project planned around several ranges.
It means the whole plank offering comes out of one maker's system, with one set of series names and one trim program behind it. Against that, there is no second opinion: what this maker does not produce, the catalog does not carry in plank form.
Vinyl, rigid core and engineered wood
Vinyl is the bulk of it, then engineered wood, then rigid core. All three arrive as a long board, and most of them are laid as a floating floor, though not all: there is a glue down group that is bonded to the subfloor and a loose lay group that is neither locked nor stuck.
What separates them is what is underneath the printed or veneered face, and that is where the differences in feel, sound and tolerance to water live. The luxury vinyl plank page sets out the construction question in full, including which numbers on a product actually matter.
Plank trim and moldings
Moldings outnumber the boards themselves by more than three to one, for the structural reason the flooring trim page sets out.
What that means when you are searching is that the item count is not a measure of choice. The number that counts is the color list, and the trim exists to carry each of those colors to every edge the floor reaches.
Plank flooring colors
Beige and brown together account for three quarters of the range, with gray the next largest group and white a small one after that. Black barely exists.
It is the wood palette rather than a design palette, which is what a wood look range should be. Gray is the interesting number: a gray wood floor is not a color any tree produces, and the size of that group is a record of a decade of demand rather than of anything the material does.
Board sizes and trim sizes
The planks themselves cluster at 7 by 48 and 9 by 60 inches. Most of the other figures in the size list belong to trim: a quarter round is around three quarters of an inch, a T molding a couple of inches wide.
Which list you are reading changes what a size means, because a search that sorts by size will interleave the two. The wide plank flooring range covers what board width does to a room, which is the one dimension that changes how a floor is perceived.
The plank series
Cyrus is the largest by some way, then XL, Laurel, Andover, Ladson and Smithcliffs, with Glenridge and McCarran behind them. Several of the larger ones have pages of their own.
They are not color ranges. A series is a construction plus a format plus a set of prints, so two series can offer a similar looking oak in different board sizes, different thicknesses and different lock systems. Choosing the series first and the color second is the way round that avoids finding the color in a format the room cannot take.
Stone look vinyl tile
A small group here is imitating marble or stone rather than wood, mostly in tile shaped pieces rather than long boards.
They exist because the vinyl body brings something a fired one cannot, and it is felt rather than seen: give underfoot, and a surface that is never cold to stand on. The floor tiles page sets out where each flooring family sits against the others.
Vinyl plank and flooring trim
This is the plank axis of the flooring range: every board, plus everything that finishes one. The luxury vinyl plank page is the vinyl half seen on its own terms.
For the trim there are two views: flooring trim organized by profile, and LVT moldings for the vinyl side specifically.
