Frequently Asked Questions

How is gray achieved on wood?

With stains and reactive finishes over oak, so the grain still reads through rather than being painted over. Every plank varies slightly, which is normal for wood.

Does gray flooring look cold?

It cools the room down, which is why it pairs so well with white cabinetry, black fixtures and stone. Warm lighting and textiles balance it if the room faces north.

Is engineered hardwood suitable for a basement?

Below grade it is the safer wood choice because the engineered core handles humidity swings better than solid planks. A moisture barrier over concrete is still required.

What sizes do the planks come in?

Widths and lengths vary by series, and both are listed on each product page along with the coverage per box.

Gray Hardwood Flooring

Gray flooring cools a room down and sits well next to white cabinetry, black fixtures and stone counters. The tone is achieved with stains and reactive finishes over oak, so the grain still shows through rather than being painted over.

Gray is the smallest part of our hardwood range, so stock moves quickly. See engineered hardwood for every color, or gray luxury vinyl for the same look in a waterproof plank.
