Frequently Asked Questions

What makes reclaimed terracotta different from new?

Reclaimed terracotta has been used before, so it carries the worn surfaces, softened edges, and color shifts of an aged floor. That gives a room instant history and character that new tile cannot copy. Every tile is a little different.

Does reclaimed terracotta need sealing?

Yes. Like all terracotta, it is porous, so seal it on install to guard against stains and make it easier to clean. A sealer also helps preserve the aged surface.

Spanish Reclaimed Terracotta

Reclaimed terracotta carries something new tile cannot, which is age. These Spanish clay tiles show the worn surfaces, soft edges, and warm color shifts of floors that have been walked on for years, so they bring instant history to a room. The collection includes hexagon and square shapes in rich red tones.

This is the floor for a farmhouse kitchen, a sunroom, or any space that wants character and warmth right away. Every tile is a little different, which is exactly the point, and the aged surface hides everyday wear beautifully.

Reclaimed terracotta is porous and should be sealed. For new handmade clay in the same warm palette, see red terracotta tiles.
