Landmark Ceramics

Landmark builds porcelain in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, which is unusual: most of the porcelain sold in the United States is pressed in Italy, Spain or Turkey and spends six weeks on a ship. Domestic production shows up in two places a buyer actually feels. Lead times are shorter, and a reorder two years later is more likely to still exist.

The catalogue is organised as series. Each one is a face, a set of colours, and every piece needed to finish the job in that face: the field tile in two or three sizes, mesh mounted mosaics for shower floors and feature walls, bullnose trim for exposed edges, and cove base where the floor meets the wall. Buying inside one series is how a room ends up with matching edges instead of a raw cut against the wall.

Bodies and finishes

Interior series are 9 mm thick with rectified edges, which means the tile is ground square after firing so it can be laid with a tight grout joint. Finishes are matte, with slip resistant versions of most series for wet floors. The outdoor range is 20 mm, thick enough to sit on gravel or pedestals without a mortar bed. The commercial Contract line runs thinner at 8 mm for wall and light traffic work.

Beyond flat tile

Two ranges are not tile at all. Veneer World is porcelain cut and stacked to read as a ledgestone wall, and Brick World is a 3x12 brick face for backsplashes and feature walls. Both give the look without the weight or the mortar bed that real stone and brick need.
