What is a quartz composite sink?
It is a kitchen sink molded from quartz composite instead of stamped from stainless steel. Each one comes in a single solid color, white, gray or black, with no pattern or veining named in the listings. MSI describes the bowls of the Black Quartz Double Bowl 50/50 Kitchen Sink as scratch resistant. Each sink is sold by the piece, and the listings name it a kitchen sink.
How deep are quartz composite bowls?
Most models list a depth of 9 inches. That includes the 3119 single bowl in gray and black, the 50/50-3319 and 60/40-3221 double bowls, and the 3219 single bowls and 50/50s, and MSI describes the 3219 bowls as 9 inches deep. The 2418 single bowl is the shallower one at 8.5 inches, in white, gray and black alike. The deeper 9 inch bowl holds a tall stockpot more easily.
Single bowl, 50/50 or 60/40?
A single bowl sink is one open basin with no divider, which leaves the most room for a roasting pan, a sheet tray or a large stockpot laid flat. A double bowl sink splits the width into two basins, and the numbers say how. A 50/50 has two bowls of equal size, so one side can hold soaking dishes while the other stays free for rinsing. A 60/40 gives one bowl more of the width, so you keep a larger main basin and still have a smaller side for prep or a drying rack.
The single bowl models are the 2418, 3119 and 3219. The 50/50 models are the 3319 and 3219, and the 60/40 models are the 3221 and 3219. The 3219 is the one code made in all three layouts. Its titles leave the code out, but the alternate name on each 3219 listing gives it.
Which colors come in each layout?
The Quartz Single Bowl 2418 comes in White, Gray and Black, and so does the Quartz Single Bowl 3119. The single bowl 3219 comes in Grey and Black. For the 50/50 double bowl, the 3319 comes in White, Gray and Black and the 3219 in White and Black. For the 60/40 double bowl, the 3221 comes in Gray and Black and the 3219 in Grey. Some titles spell the color Grey; it is the same gray.
That means white is available as a single bowl and as a 50/50, but not as a 60/40. Black and gray are offered in every layout. If you want a white sink with two bowls, the White 50/50-3319 and the White Quartz Double Bowl Kitchen Sink, the 50/50-3219, are the two choices.
How much does a quartz composite sink weigh?
These sinks weigh from 24 lb to 43.5 lb each, and every listing states its weight per piece. The lightest are the Gray and Black Quartz Single Bowl 2418 at 24 lb, and the White 2418 weighs 29 lb. The Quartz Single Bowl 3119 weighs 31 lb in all three colors. The 50/50-3319 and the 60/40-3221 double bowls weigh 37 lb. The heaviest are the 3219 models at 43.5 lb, whether single bowl, 50/50 or 60/40. So within one layout, picking a 3319 or 3221 over a 3219 saves 6.5 lb, and among single bowls a gray or black 2418 weighs a little over half as much as a 3219.
