What is silver travertine?
Silver travertine is travertine in a gray color, and each source describes its stone a little differently. FBR Marble describes its Silver as a silver-gray travertine with brown and beige movement running through the gray. MSI describes its Silver Travertine as a blend of silvers, grays and creams. Stone Tile Depot lists its own Silver as a natural gray paver. Every paver on this page is tumbled, a finish that eases the corners and gives the face a weathered surface.
Which sizes do silver travertine pavers come in?
Across the three sources, squares run from 6x6 and 8x8 through 12x12 and 16x16 to 24x24, and rectangles come in 6x12, 8x16, 12x24 and 16x24. Each source covers its own part of that range. FBR Marble's Silver comes in 6x6, 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 squares and 8x16 and 12x24 rectangles. MSI's Silver Travertine comes in 16x16 and 24x24 squares and 8x16, 12x24 and 16x24 rectangles. Stone Tile Depot's own Silver comes in 6x12, 16x24 and 24x24. The largest pieces, 24x24 and 16x24, come from MSI and Stone Tile Depot, and the smallest squares, 6x6 and 8x8, from FBR Marble. Large squares such as 24x24 pavers give a patio few joints, while 6x12 and 8x16 give a smaller, brick-like scale for walkways and borders.
How thick are silver travertine pavers?
Silver travertine pavers here come in two thicknesses. The Stone Tile Depot and FBR Marble pieces are 1 1/4 inch, and MSI lists its Silver Travertine pavers at 1.18 inch.
French pattern and pattern sets
Pattern sets mix several sizes in one order, so a patio or courtyard shows squares and rectangles together in a repeating module. Stone Tile Depot's Silver comes as a French pattern set, listed in two versions, and MSI's Silver Travertine comes as a standard pattern set and a MINI pattern set. All of the pattern sets are tumbled, like the single-size pavers. The Stone Tile Depot French pattern sets are tagged for pool and spa areas, while the MSI pattern sets are listed for outdoor and interior floors. More pattern colors are in French pattern pavers.
Which pavers are listed for pool decks?
The FBR Marble Silver pavers are all tagged for pool and spa areas, in 6x6, 8x8, 12x12, 16x16, 8x16 and 12x24, along with Stone Tile Depot's Silver in 6x12, 16x24, 24x24 and its French pattern sets. MSI's Silver Travertine is listed for outdoor floors and interior floors but not for pool areas, so for a silver pool deck the FBR Marble and Stone Tile Depot pieces are the ones to look at. Coping for the pool edge is in pool copings, and a fuller color range for pool decks is in travertine pool pavers.
Can this stone go indoors?
Many of them can. MSI's Silver Travertine pavers and pattern sets are listed for interior floors and walls as well as outdoor floors, in bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms, and Stone Tile Depot's Silver pavers are listed for interior floors too. A Stone Tile Depot 6x12 is also listed for shower walls and shower floors, and a French pattern set for shower walls. FBR Marble's Silver is listed for outdoor floors only.
Silver among the travertine colors
Silver is the gray color in a travertine range that otherwise runs from ivory and cream to walnut and chocolate brown. It comes in the same tumbled finish and 1 1/4 inch thickness as those colors from Stone Tile Depot and FBR Marble, and the warmer colors are in travertine pavers.
