How to Buy Slabs

Slabs are delivered only to a licensed fabricator. Review the delivery requirements before requesting samples.

Do You Have a Fabricator?

Slabs can only be shipped to a licensed fabricator for unloading. We don't recommend shipping slabs to job sites or to non-fabricators. Before requesting samples, make sure you have a fabricator to handle your slabs.

Slabs Are Heavy and Delicate

Special care is required when shipping slabs. There are two shipping methods:

Truck with an A-Frame: Check with your fabricator to see if they are equipped to pick up the slab from our facility where it is located. Your fabricator should contact us to confirm availability and pricing before you order samples. We deliver within 50 miles of the warehouse directly to licensed fabricators only (no job site deliveries).
LTL Shipments by Crate: If your fabricator is more than 50 miles from our slab warehouse, they should ask about pricing for crating and shipping. Please contact us for crating charges and confirm freight costs before ordering slab samples.
Slabs should be handled only by the people listed above. We are not responsible for any damage or liability from slab handling.
Preparation and shipment of slab samples may take 6-9 business days.

Basalt · Slab

Basaltite Honed Basalt Slab Random is a dense volcanic stone offered in full slabs at random sizes. The surface carries a honed finish that reads matte under light. We do not list a price for this material. You request a quote for the slabs you select. Pricing is by quote. [see other basalt options][view related slabs]

Design

Random sizes on honed face

The slab presents a consistent black body with a fine, even grain. Veining appears as subtle linear marks that shift from one slab to the next. The honed face softens the reflection of overhead lights. Expect variation in size and pattern between each piece. [explore basaltite honed finishes][compare basaltite slabs]

Matte surface

The honed face hides scratches and etching better than a polished cut.

Natural variation

Each slab carries its own size and unique linear markings.

Where to use it

Walls and counters in stock batches

This stone suits residential interior walls, commercial interior walls, and residential countertops. A licensed fabricator templates and installs the material. We currently hold no batches in stock. Slabs ship to the fabricator from the warehouse that holds the batch. [find a fabricator near you][schedule a slab viewing]

Fabricator installation

Licensed fabricators template, cut and install the slab on site.

Batch matching

Slabs from the same batch look the closest to each other.

Why we chose it

Batch availabilityWe track which batches remain in Fairfax and other warehouses.
Random dimensionsEach slab arrives at its own random size from the block.
Honed durabilityThe honed finish resists etching and shows wear less than a polished face.

Care

Clean the surface with a pH neutral cleaner and dry the stone after use. Apply a sealer in wet areas to maintain the finish. Avoid acidic products that can dull the honed face.
