How to Buy Slabs

Slabs are delivered only to a licensed fabricator. Review the delivery requirements before requesting samples.

Do You Have a Fabricator?

Slabs can only be shipped to a licensed fabricator for unloading. We don't recommend shipping slabs to job sites or to non-fabricators. Before requesting samples, make sure you have a fabricator to handle your slabs.

Slabs Are Heavy and Delicate

Special care is required when shipping slabs. There are two shipping methods:

Truck with an A-Frame: Check with your fabricator to see if they are equipped to pick up the slab from our facility where it is located. Your fabricator should contact us to confirm availability and pricing before you order samples. We deliver within 50 miles of the warehouse directly to licensed fabricators only (no job site deliveries).
LTL Shipments by Crate: If your fabricator is more than 50 miles from our slab warehouse, they should ask about pricing for crating and shipping. Please contact us for crating charges and confirm freight costs before ordering slab samples.
Slabs should be handled only by the people listed above. We are not responsible for any damage or liability from slab handling.
Preparation and shipment of slab samples may take 6-9 business days.

Calacatta Black Polished Marble Slab

Calacatta Black Polished Marble Slab Random is a dark stone sold as full slabs in random sizes. The finish is polished. We price these marble slabs by quote. You get one slab at a time. The sizes listed are what we have right now.

Design

The colour is black. The veining runs in thin white lines across the surface. The polished finish reads bright under direct light and shows the stone's depth. Each slab is a single piece of stone, so the size and the markings differ from one to the next. One batch is in stock at Fairfax. Slabs from that batch match more closely than slabs from different blocks.

Random slab sizes

Sizes vary. The batch list shows 78x128 in as the current size.

One batch in stock

Twelve slabs are held in Fairfax. They come from a single block.

Where to use it

The stone suits residential countertops, residential interior walls and commercial interior walls. A licensed fabricator templates and installs it. You can use it in a bathroom, a kitchen or a living room. Dry-lay the pieces before setting them. A polished finish shows wear sooner, so it works best on walls and vanities. Order quantities are per piece for slabs.

Fabricator installs

We do not deliver slabs to a job site. A licensed fabricator templates and installs them.

Low traffic only

The polished finish shows etching and wear. Use it on vanities and walls.

Care

Marble reacts with acids. Lemon, vinegar and wine etch the surface. Seal it after installation. Reseal every one to two years. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid bleach and abrasive pads.
