BEAR STATUE
The bear is walking rather than posing. Head lowered and turned forward, shoulders dropped, one foreleg ahead of the other. It reads as an animal caught mid stride rather than an ornament placed on a lawn.
Fur is cut into the surface in directional strokes that follow the body, denser at the shoulder and along the flank. At a few feet it catches light the way a real coat does, which is what separates a sculpted animal from a smooth cast one.
It sits on a mossy rock base cast as part of the piece, so it belongs to the ground rather than sitting on top of it. Twenty five and a half inches long, best seen from the side.
Across a sightline rather than facing you, since the profile is what carries it. The edge of a lawn, a woodland border, beside a path, half into planting so the shoulder shows above the foliage. It suits informal gardens with green around it rather than paving.

One piece, nothing to assemble. Set it on level solid ground.
Turn it side on to the view rather than head on. A walking animal reads from its profile and loses most of its effect from the front.
The directional cuts hold debris under trees. A soft brush every few weeks keeps the strokes catching light properly.
Sealed concrete handles freeze and thaw well when it is not sitting in water. Check the rock base is on ground that drains.
Years of full sun will lift some depth from the black. A position with afternoon shade keeps it deeper for longer, and it suits the piece better anyway.

Completely. This is a realistic bear on all fours, a statue with no function. The end table is a seated bear holding a timber top overhead and is furniture with a sculptural shape.
Side on. The walking profile is the whole design, and from the front you lose it. Aim it along a path or across a border.
No, 25.5 inches long is about the size of a large dog. A real black bear is several times that. It is scaled to sit in a garden rather than to startle people.
Less well. A realistic animal wants informal planting and green around it. On clipped lawn or bare paving it reads as an object rather than as something that wandered in.
