Scalloped Concrete Tiered Garden Fountain
If you want the familiar outline of a three tier fountain without lion heads, figures, or elaborate sculpture becoming the theme of the garden, this design keeps the attention on proportion and scalloped bowl edges. Three bowls rise from wide to narrow, adding ornament through shape while remaining easy to pair with plants, brick, and stone.
Place it inside the curve of a planting bed, where a patio meets the garden, or at the end of a path. The rounded edges follow the shapes of flowers and shrubs, while the 48 inch height keeps all three bowls visible among surrounding plants.
Water moves from the upper bowl to the levels below and spreads across the scalloped rims. Up close, you can see several falling streams and hear a steady layered sound. From farther across the patio, the sound becomes a softer garden background. The included recirculating pump connects to a standard 110V outdoor outlet, with no permanent plumbing required.

Place it inside the curve of a wide planting bed, where a patio meets the garden, or at the end of a path. Leave enough open space around the fountain for the three bowl edges to remain visible instead of disappearing behind tall plants or outdoor furniture.
A level paved area or a prepared base beside the planting bed gives the concrete pieces stable support while keeping the fountain close to the plants it is meant to complement.
The curved bowl edges work especially well in traditional, cottage, English inspired, and European inspired gardens. They repeat the rounded shapes of flowers and shrubs and pair easily with brick, weathered stone, and gravel.
If the surrounding space uses mostly straight lines, polished surfaces, and very little ornament, a fountain with a simpler geometric form may be a closer match.
Place the fountain inside a planting area, at the edge of the lawn, or to one side of the patio so it stays outside common walking and running paths. Route the power cord along a wall, garden bed, or another area where it is less likely to be stepped on.
Do not allow children or pets to climb on the fountain. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
Place the fountain on a level, stable surface that can support the concrete pieces. Because the parts are heavy, at least two adults should handle positioning and assembly.
After assembly, fill the bowls and connect the included recirculating pump to a standard 110V outdoor outlet. Check that each tier is level before use. No permanent water line is needed, but the water level should be checked and topped up as water is lost through evaporation and splashing.
Water moves between three bowl levels and separates at several points along the scalloped rims. Nearby, the result is a steady layered sound rather than one concentrated drop. From farther across a patio or through an open window, it becomes a softer garden background.
The perceived volume changes with the water level, placement, and surrounding surfaces. A fixed decibel figure would not reliably describe how it will sound in every yard.
During regular use, keep enough water in the fountain to cover the pump and prevent it from running dry. Clean leaves, dirt, and mineral buildup from the bowls and pump as needed, and replace water lost through evaporation or splashing.
Before freezing weather, disconnect and store the pump and drain standing water from every bowl. Protect the fountain for local winter conditions to reduce possible damage from repeated freezing and thawing. Do not leave water in the fountain where it can freeze.
