This freestanding bathtub is sculpted from a single solid block of Emperador Light marble, quarried in Turkey. The stone has warm, earthy beige tones with delicate lighter veining, and it brings a cozy, inviting feel to a bathroom that a white or gray stone would not. Each tub is carved by hand, one at a time, so no two are identical. It measures 29.5 inches wide, 67 inches long and 19.5 inches high, and the surface is polished.

Design

Warm beige, fine light veins

Emperador Light belongs to the warm side of the marble palette. The ground is a soft beige with brown undertones, crossed by fine, lighter veins that give the surface movement without busy contrast. Polishing deepens the warm tones and gives the stone a smooth gloss that catches light along the curves of the oval form. The tub is carved from a single block, so the basin and the outer walls are one continuous piece with no joints. Natural variation in tone and veining between tubs is moderate and normal for this stone, and it is why each piece is individual. The warm color sits well with wood, brass and cream tile, and it softens a minimal bathroom as easily as it suits a classic one.

Emperador Light is a calcite marble with a polished surface. Like all marble it is porous, so acidic substances such as citrus juice, vinegar or wine can etch it, and oils, colored soaps and beauty products can leave marks if they sit. Sealing protects against absorption, and how often the tub is resealed depends on how much it is used.
