BEAR OUTDOOR WATER FOUNTAIN
A weathered timber post with a crossbeam bolted across it and rope binding at the joints, water pouring from a hollowed log into a barrel below. Two bear cubs climb the right hand side, one above the other. Warm light fills the catch basin.
The structure is the difference. Most bear fountains put the animals on a rock or a stump, which is a natural setting where a bear would be anyway. Putting them on something clearly built by a person, with visible bolts and rope lashings, means the bears are somewhere they should not be. That small tension is what makes it a scene rather than a statue.
Lighting the basin rather than the figures means at dusk the water glows and the bears read as dark shapes climbing above it.
A single defined pour into the barrel. Water leaves a hollowed log as one stream rather than spreading across a surface, so what you hear is a steady clear arrival rather than a layered cascade. It is a close range sound suited to a path edge or a seating corner. It will not carry across a garden. How loud it seems will still shift with the water level and the surfaces around it, which is why a fixed decibel number would tell you nothing useful about your own garden.

Fill it, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury. Set it level, since a tilted base sends the pour past the barrel rather than into it.
Face the bears toward where people pass. They are on one side of the post, so from the other side you see a plain timber structure.
Keep enough water in the barrel to cover the pump so it never runs dry. An open pour loses more to evaporation and drift than water running down a surface, so check every few days in warm weather.
Keep the log spout clear. A blockage sends the stream down the outside of the post rather than into the barrel.
The timber texture, the rope, and the bears are painted resin. Years of unbroken sun will lift some depth out of the color, most visibly on the animals. Afternoon shade keeps it looking new longer. Clean with a soft cloth and keep harsh liquid cleaners off the paint, especially around the rope binding where the detail is finest.
Before hard freezes, drain the barrel and the base completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and dry the piece out. Water standing in the catch basin through a freeze and thaw is what causes damage.

The setting. The others put bears on tree stumps or rocks, which is where a bear belongs. This one puts them on a built timber post with bolts and rope, so they are somewhere they should not be. That is a different kind of scene even though the animals are similar.
Cottage and woodland gardens, a path edge, a porch corner, beside a shed. It needs green around it and suits loose planting with gravel. It does not suit a formal courtyard or a minimal patio.
No, it is resin with a weathered timber finish including sculpted bolts and rope. Real timber in constant contact with water splits and rots. At a few feet the grain and the lashings read as the real thing.
Children are drawn to animal fountains and will want to touch the cubs. They are fixed sculpted parts and should not be pulled on. Set it on a level solid surface out of the main running route, and run the cord along a bed edge so it will not catch a foot. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
