HAND PUMP OUTDOOR FOUNTAIN
A cast iron hand pump stands on the right, its curved handle raised and its spout angled out over two terracotta bowls set at different heights on the left. Water leaves the spout as a defined stream, drops into the upper bowl, tips into the lower one, and returns through a stacked stone base. A tipped clay jar sits in front.
Every element belongs to the same scene. The pump, the bowls, the stone base, and the jar are all parts of a farmyard water point, which is why the piece holds together when someone walks over and looks closely. Themed fountains usually fail by mounting one prop on an unrelated body, and the eye registers that mismatch even when it cannot name it.
The lighting is cool white rather than warm. On gray stone and terracotta that keeps the falling water sharp and legible after dark, though it will read cooler than warm porch bulbs nearby. Worth deciding before you place it next to existing lights.
A defined stream rather than a wash. Water leaves the spout as one clear jet and lands in a bowl, then tips again to the next, so you hear separate arrivals with a rhythm rather than a continuous run. It is a lively close range sound suited to a path edge or a doorway where people pass near it. It will not carry across a garden. How loud it seems will still shift with the water level and the surfaces around it, which is why a fixed decibel number would tell you nothing useful about your own garden.

Fill it, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury. One person can carry it at 16.5 pounds.
Set it level before filling. A tilted base sends the jet from the spout past the bowl rather than into it, and on a defined stream that is immediately visible.
At 16.5 pounds and just over 32 inches this is light for its height. Place it against a wall, a fence, or within planting rather than free standing in an open windy position, and keep it off the main walking route.
Keep enough water in the base to cover the pump so it never runs dry. A defined jet loses more to wind drift than water running down a surface, so check every few days in warm weather.
Keep the spout clear. A blockage there is obvious immediately, since the stream that should reach the bowl goes somewhere else.
The aged iron, terracotta, and stone are all painted resin, and years of unbroken sun will lift some depth out of the color. Afternoon shade keeps it looking new longer. Clean with a soft cloth and keep harsh liquid cleaners off the paint, particularly on the terracotta bowls where the wet rims show marks first.
Before hard freezes, drain the base and both bowls completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and dry the piece out. Water standing in a bowl through a freeze and thaw is what causes damage. At 16.5 pounds bringing it inside is easy.

Cool white. It sits in the bowls and the base, which keeps the falling water bright and defined after dark against the gray stone. If your other outdoor lighting is warm, this will read cooler beside it, so it is worth deciding before you place it near existing lights.
Different construction entirely. That one has a brick base with three stacked wooden barrels and warm lighting. This one has a stacked stone base with two terracotta bowls and cool white lighting, and it is taller at 32.3 inches. Choose that for the fuller farmyard composition and this for the cleaner two bowl cascade.
Cottage and farmhouse gardens, a path edge, beside a gate or a shed, a gravel border. The terracotta and stone combination sits well with brick, warm paving, and loose planting. It does not suit a formal courtyard or a strictly modern patio.
Children are drawn to hand pumps. The handle is a fixed moulded part rather than a working lever and should not be pulled on. At 16.5 pounds the piece is light for its height, so set it against something solid, out of the main running route, and run the cord along a bed edge. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
