What Makes This Fountain Different

Base lighting illuminates the last few inches of water and leaves the rest of the face dark, which is why most lit water walls look like they have a lamp at the bottom. Running an LED strip along the top cap sends light down through the descending water for the entire height, so the face reads as a lit surface rather than as a dark panel with a glow at its foot.

Set it level. Uneven ground sends the water down one edge of a face instead of across it, and on a ribbed surface that shows as a dry patch.
Choosing the background
The slate is dark, so a pale wall, render, or light fence makes the staggered outline legible. Against dark planting the shape flattens and you lose the composition that three heights create.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the base to cover the pump so it never runs dry. Water spread thin across three ribbed faces evaporates faster than a contained stream, so check every few days in warm weather.
Keep the ribbing clear. Debris caught in the scoring diverts the flow and leaves visible dry lines on the face.
Cleaning the ribbed faces
In hard water areas mineral film settles into the fine horizontal bands, which is the hardest place to remove it once set. Wipe the faces regularly rather than waiting, and keep abrasives away from the scoring.
Winter storage
Before hard freezes, drain the base completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and dry the piece out. At 17.6 pounds bringing it inside is easy.

Is it quiet?
Yes, among the quieter pieces here. The ribbed faces hold the water in contact for the entire descent so nothing falls clear. If you want an audible fountain, choose a design where the water leaves the surface.
Is it safe around children and pets?
