A half inch limestone pencil
Jerusalem pencil liner is a limestone molding at 1/2 by 12, the narrow round profile used to break a field or cap a run. Ninety pieces come in a box, and the section is 11/16 inch, deeper than the width suggests.
Design
A profile with depth
Pencil liners work by casting their own shadow, and depth is what makes that happen. At 11/16 inch this one stands proud enough to read clearly against a flat field. Limestone gives it an even, low contrast surface with slight variation between pieces, and honing keeps it matte. Beige limestone moldings of this kind are usually run at a single height across a room.

Where to use it
Interior walls
Commercial and residential interior walls both appear, with bathroom, kitchen and living room recorded. The piece is not frost resistant, so interior work only. Count by length: measure the run, divide by twelve inches, and allow a couple of spares for mitres at corners.
Interior only
It is not frost resistant, which rules out exterior use.

A box covers a long run before a second is needed.

Care
Limestone needs sealing after installation and resealing every one to two years. A raised profile collects more dust along its top edge than a flat surface, so include it when cleaning, using a pH neutral stone product.
