Tile and Stone for the 2027 Colors of the Year: 9 Pairings

The color of the year 2027 is not one color. By late October 2026, nine American paint and stain brands had named their picks, and three of the nine chose greens: Sherwin-Williams Celery, Benjamin Moore Webster Green and Behr Grounded. The rest split between blues, earthy browns, an earthy orange and a pale wood stain. Paint is the easy part of a room to change. Tile stays for years, so we matched each 2027 color with a tile or stone that shares its color family and works on the same wall, floor or backsplash.

In short: sage-veined white porcelain and sage subway for the green picks, a soft blue picket and smoky blue subway for the blues, a terracotta-tone picket and tumbled clay brick for the earth tones, a fluted umber ceramic beside the espresso brown, and a pale wood-look plank for the pickled oak stain. 1. Sherwin-Williams Celery with sage-veined white porcelain

Sherwin-Williams named Celery SW 6421, "an airy, herbal green," its 2027 Color of the Year in September 2026, a pick it shares with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. A pale green this soft needs a surface with the same lightness, and a veined tile gives it something paint cannot: veining that moves across the wall and catches light differently through the day.

White with Sage Green Vein is a polished porcelain tile, 24 by 48 inches, two to a case covering 15.42 square feet, with sweeping gray and sage green veins on a white ground. The photo shows it covering the floor and walls of an open dining area with light oak cabinets and a pale wood table. Paired with a Celery wall, a room stays light and cool without going stark white, and light oak keeps the pale green from looking cold.

2. Benjamin Moore Webster Green with sage subway

Benjamin Moore chose Webster Green HC-130 as its 2027 Color of the Year on October 14, 2026. Our pick for it is a glossy subway with an uneven, handmade look. A green wall and a green backsplash in two shades give a kitchen depth while keeping one color story.

3. Behr Grounded with olive glazed squares

Behr announced Grounded T27-01, "a mossy olive with earthy brown undertones," as its 2027 Color of the Year on August 26, 2026. A glazed tile in the same family carries that color onto a wall.

Olive Green is a glossy ceramic square, 4 by 4 inches, 60 tiles to a case covering 6.46 square feet. The glaze varies from yellow-green to deep moss, which keeps a full wall from looking flat. It suits a vanity wall or a kitchen backsplash, and a white vessel sink in front of it gives the green a clean edge.

4. Valspar Cottage Door with soft blue picket tile

Valspar named Cottage Door 8004-38E, "a reflective, mid-tone neutral blue," its 2027 Color of the Year on August 5, 2026. A neutral blue works best with a tile that stays soft, and a matte glaze keeps the blue calm instead of bright.

Stone Blue is a matte ceramic picket, 2 by 10 inches with pointed ends, 44 tiles to a case covering 5.38 square feet, in a pale dusty blue. The photo shows it on a kitchen backsplash between a floating wood shelf and a white farmhouse sink, with brass fixtures and white cabinets. The tile is lighter than Cottage Door, so the paint can take the deeper blue on the walls or the lower cabinets while the tile keeps the backsplash light.

5. Glidden Artifact with smoky blue subway

Glidden named Artifact PPG10-16, a warm, smoky blue, as its 2027 Color of the Year on September 14, 2026. A smoky blue belongs in the same family as a mottled blue glaze, so the tile and the paint meet halfway.

Spruce Blue is a glossy ceramic subway, 2.5 by 8 inches, 38 tiles to a case covering 5.38 square feet. The glaze is mottled, with lighter and darker patches across each tile, the look of a kiln-fired piece. Above pale blue cabinets and a white counter, as in the photo, it gives a kitchen a strong blue backsplash without a single flat color.

6. Dutch Boy Deep Rooted with terracotta-tone picket tile

Dutch Boy named Deep Rooted 311-7DB, a rich earthy orange, its 2027 Color of the Year in late August 2026. Orange paint can feel loud on its own. A terracotta-tone tile brings the same color family in a softer shade, and next to it a Deep Rooted wall looks like part of the material.

Terracotta is a matte porcelain picket, 3 by 19 inches with pointed ends, 20 tiles to a case covering 7.65 square feet, in a warm clay color lighter than Deep Rooted. The photo shows it set vertically inside an arched kitchen niche, above a fluted wood cabinet and a white stone counter, with a wood shelf across the middle. Paint the wall around the arch in Deep Rooted and the tile becomes the lighter, sun-faded side of the same orange.

7. C2 Pueblo with tumbled clay brick

C2 Paint picked Pueblo C2-510, a warm brown with rose undertones, as its 2027 Color of the Year. Our pick for that pink-in-brown tone is clay brick, which has the same mix of rose and brown. Noble Red is a tumbled clay brick, 2.25 by 7.5 inches, with worn edges and a mix of rose, rust and brown across the pieces. It is listed for interior floors, walls and backsplashes. In a mudroom entry, herringbone brick under white built-ins carries the Pueblo color into a hard-working space.

8. Dunn-Edwards French Press Coffee with umber fluted ceramic

Dunn-Edwards named French Press Coffee DEBN07, an espresso brown with smoky charcoal undertones, as its 2027 Color of the Year. The pairing here is a matte umber tile close to the paint: a deep brown with a gray cast, so it sits with French Press Coffee instead of contrasting with it, and its ribs add texture where the paint is flat.

Urbanslat Flute Umber is a matte ceramic with fine vertical ribs and a wood-grain pattern, sold as a 16 by 48 inch mosaic and listed for backsplashes. The close shot shows a dark umber brown with a gray cast. The room photo shows it on a full hallway wall behind a round mirror and an upholstered bench, across from deep green walls and above a black and white checkerboard floor.

9. Minwax Pickled Oak with a pale wood-look plank

Minwax named Pickled Oak MW260 its 2027 Color of the Year on October 6, 2026. It is a wood stain, a light, soft neutral with gentle warm undertones. A pale wood-look porcelain plank in the same washed tone lets a stained oak cabinet and a tiled surface meet without a color clash.

Areia is a wood-look porcelain plank, 8 by 40 inches, in a pale beige with fine grain and a rectified edge. It is listed for backsplashes, and the photo shows it on a short run of steps beside a ribbed wall panel in a matching pale tone, under a tall window. Next to pickled oak cabinets or a white oak vanity it looks warm and quiet, a good base for any of the greens above.

Valspar Cottage Door is a mid-tone neutral blue, and a matte ceramic picket like Stone Blue keeps the blue soft, a shade lighter than the paint. Glidden Artifact is a warm, smoky blue, closer to a mottled glaze like Spruce Blue subway. In the photos, Stone Blue appears with a white farmhouse sink and Spruce Blue with white counters, and either tile can carry the color on a backsplash while the paint goes on the remaining walls.
