Ceramic Floor Tiles

Floor rated ceramic is, in a home. It is fired harder than wall ceramic and carries a wear rating for foot traffic. For a commercial entrance or a workshop, porcelain is the safer choice because it is denser.

Porcelain if the floor sees heavy traffic, water and dropped pans. Ceramic if the budget matters and the room is a normal family kitchen: it costs less, the glaze cleans easily and it never needs sealing.

The tile does not, the grout does. A glazed ceramic face is already sealed by firing. Seal the grout after installation and the floor stays easy to clean.

A 4x8, 6x6 or 12x12 keeps the scale right in a small room and cuts cleanly around fixtures. Large formats look better in open spaces where whole tiles can run wall to wall.

Only if the product page rates them for floors. The crackle is in the glaze, so on a floor it can pick up dirt over time. Seal crackled tile before grouting and keep it to low traffic rooms.
