Frequently Asked Questions

What is a quartz look tile?

A porcelain tile printed and textured to read as quartzite, a natural stone with a fine crystalline face that catches light. The texture is part of the effect, not just the print.

What colours does Explore come in?

Star Grey, African Beige, Arctic White and a black.

What sizes are available?

Field tiles at 12x12, 12x24, 24x24 and 24x48, mosaics at 12x12 and bullnose at 3x24.

Does it work in a bathroom?

Yes, on floors and walls, and the slip resistant version suits a shower floor. The crystalline face reads particularly well under wall lights beside a mirror.

Explore Quartz Look Porcelain

Quartzite is the stone people fall for when they see it in a showroom and then find is priced like a luxury. It has a fine crystalline structure that catches light differently as you move past it, which is exactly what a printed face has the hardest time reproducing. Explore gets close by texturing the surface as well as printing it, so the light does some of the work.

Colourways are Star Grey, African Beige, Arctic White and a black, all named after the quartzite families they come from.

Sizes and pieces

Field tiles at 12x12, 12x24, 24x24 and 24x48, mosaics at 12x12, and bullnose at 3x24, in matte and slip resistant surfaces.

Lighting a textured face

A quartz look face rewards light that crosses it: a window down one side of the room, or wall lights rather than a single ceiling fixture. Under flat overhead light the sparkle flattens out and the tile reads as a plain grey. This is worth thinking about before choosing between this series and a plain stone face.
