Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a stone paver and a stone tile?

Thickness and surface. Pavers are cut thicker so they can be set outside on a flexible base, and their faces are tumbled or textured for grip. Tiles are thinner, smoother and meant to be bonded to a solid substrate.

Which stone paver suits a pool deck?

Tumbled travertine, first for temperature and then for grip. Marble in a sandblasted or brushed finish is the next step up in looks and behaves nearly as well.

Will stone pavers crack in winter?

Dense stone set on a properly drained base handles freeze and thaw. Cracking usually traces back to trapped water or a base that was never compacted, not to the stone itself.

How do I clean stone pavers?

Rinse them, then use a pH neutral stone cleaner for spots. Skip acid washes and harsh degreasers, which eat the surface of travertine and marble. Reseal every couple of years if the patio takes food and oil.

Natural Stone Pavers

Quarried stone cut thick for outdoor use: marble, travertine and limestone in 6x12, 16x24 and 24x24, plus Versailles pattern sets that lay out in a four size repeat. Finishes are tumbled, brushed, sandblasted and leather, all chosen for grip.

Stone pavers age differently from concrete. Rather than fading, travertine and limestone soften and pick up a patina, and a chipped edge on a tumbled paver simply looks like the rest of the stone. Replacing one piece years later is easy because the material is natural, not a colour batch.

Plan the base before the stone. Compacted gravel, bedding sand and proper drainage decide whether a patio stays flat. On a roof or terrace, pedestals let you level the field and keep water moving underneath.
