How to Buy Slabs

Slabs are delivered only to a licensed fabricator. Review the delivery requirements before requesting samples.

Do You Have a Fabricator?

Slabs can only be shipped to a licensed fabricator for unloading. We don't recommend shipping slabs to job sites or to non-fabricators. Before requesting samples, make sure you have a fabricator to handle your slabs.

Slabs Are Heavy and Delicate

Special care is required when shipping slabs. There are two shipping methods:

Truck with an A-Frame: Check with your fabricator to see if they are equipped to pick up the slab from our facility where it is located. Your fabricator should contact us to confirm availability and pricing before you order samples. We deliver within 50 miles of the warehouse directly to licensed fabricators only (no job site deliveries).
LTL Shipments by Crate: If your fabricator is more than 50 miles from our slab warehouse, they should ask about pricing for crating and shipping. Please contact us for crating charges and confirm freight costs before ordering slab samples.
Slabs should be handled only by the people listed above. We are not responsible for any damage or liability from slab handling.
Preparation and shipment of slab samples may take 6-9 business days.

Alberene Soapstone With a Quiet Honed Finish

This Alberene soapstone slab has a dark gray body with soft mottling and a restrained honed surface. Its pattern stays subtle. Fine pale flecks and faint cloudy bands spread across the face, giving a kitchen countertop or bathroom wall depth without the force of heavy, high-contrast veining.

Design

Smoky Gray With Fine Flecks

Across the pictured slab, charcoal and medium-gray clouds blend into a dense, nearly uniform field. Tiny light specks appear throughout. Very faint bands drift mostly from left to right, while a few thin pale marks and small scratches interrupt the surface without forming strong veins. The honed finish keeps the black-gray color muted and matte.

Low-contrast movement

Cloudy horizontal shifts are visible up close but settle into an even charcoal field from farther away.

Slight variation

Pieces remain closely related in tone, with small natural changes in mottling and marks.

Where to use it

Dark Grounding for Kitchen and Bath

On residential countertops, Alberene creates a broad dark plane that works well when the design needs less pattern and more tonal weight. The surface feels steady. Shower walls can use that same charcoal field as a quiet backdrop, while commercial interior walls gain texture from the fine flecks and cloudy movement.

Questions we get

What should I expect from the honed finish?

It is smooth and matte, with little reflected glare. Honing also tends to hide scratches and etching better than a polished face.

How are Alberene batches shown?

A batch contains natural stone slabs cut from one block, which makes them the closest match. The page displays current choices with a photo of each slab, and those choices change as slabs sell.

Can the slab be delivered directly to my project?

No. It is sent to a licensed fabricator for templating, cutting, and installation. Delivery uses an A-frame truck within 50 miles of the holding warehouse or crated LTL freight beyond that.
