Design

Colour that stays put

A fired glaze holds its shade and does not fade in sunlight, which is the reason a strong colour is worth committing to on ceramic rather than on a painted surface. The style is recorded as solid colour, with no pattern or variation built in, so the red arrives the same in every piece. Gloss adds to that by reflecting the light in the room back at you. The flip side is that a glossy face reports the substrate under it honestly, and any hollow or bump behind the tile will read in the reflection once the lights are on.
