The Rough Hewn Poplar Mantel starts with the same solid American West poplar as our Farmhouse shelf, then our craftsmen run an adze across the face to carve a hand-hewn surface texture - the same technique used in traditional timber framing. The result is a mantel shelf that reads as reclaimed or antique without the warping, checking, or unknown history of actual salvage wood. It pairs naturally with brick surrounds, shiplap, board-and-batten, and exposed-beam ceilings.
