This vessel sink is carved from solid black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 31 inches wide, 23 inches long and 6 inches high, a large, freely shaped basin that sits on top of the vanity and holds the eye. Each piece is carved individually from natural stone, so the tone, the white striations and the texture of the outer face vary from sink to sink and cannot be repeated exactly. The outline is organic rather than geometric, which suits a bathroom where the vanity is meant to be the main event.
Design
Two finishes on one stone
What sets this sink apart is the contrast between its two finishes. The interior is polished: a smooth, glossy surface that is practical for daily use and shows the veining of the black marble clearly. The exterior is hand-split, leaving the raw, rugged face of the stone with its white striations exposed. Side by side, the two finishes show the same block of marble as both refined and rough, and that contrast gives the sink its depth. The edges are curved, so there are no tight corners inside the basin where buildup collects. Moderate variation in tone and texture between pieces is normal for this stone.

A large bowl for a strong vanity
At 31 by 23 inches, this is a generous vessel that suits a wide vanity in a primary bath or a powder room designed around a single bold piece. Dark marble works in moody modern rooms, minimal spaces and transitional bathrooms, and it pairs well with brass fittings, matte black hardware or warm gold accents. The basin sits above the counter, so the split exterior stays fully on view. A 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain connections. With a large, freeform outline, the sink needs a vanity top deep and wide enough to leave a comfortable margin around it.

Installation
A strong, level counter
Solid marble of this size is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set on silicone, which holds it and seals the joint. Because the basin stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim and well into a bowl this wide: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout with enough reach. Settle the faucet and its position before the counter is drilled.

Care
Black marble is a porous calcite stone, so acids can etch the polished interior and leave dull marks, and periodic sealing helps protect it against staining. How often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
