This rectangular wall-mount sink is carved from a single block of Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 48 inches long, 20 inches wide and 6 inches high, so it gives a long stretch of stone on the wall without a cabinet underneath. Carving from one block means there are no seams or joints in the piece. Black marble carries fine natural veining, and each sink shows its own pattern, formed over millions of years.

Design

Honed black, soft to the eye

The finish is honed, a smooth matte surface often chosen for contemporary bathrooms. On a black stone, honing softens the color to a deep charcoal and is more forgiving of minor imperfections; matte surfaces also hide light water spots and fingerprints better than a glossy face. The fine veins that run through Toros Black show against the dark ground, and because the pattern comes from the block, no two sinks are the same. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal. The basin has curved edges and a smooth interior, which keeps water from pooling and leaves no hidden crevices for grime.

Installation

Back the wall for 48 inches

A 48 inch piece of solid marble is heavy, so the wall needs blocking between the studs along the full length of the sink at the mounting height. That backing is simplest to add while the wall is open. A wall-mounted faucet keeps the black stone clear, and its supply lines must be roughed in at the right height before the wall is finished. If the sink is set above a vanity, the top has to be flat, level and strong enough for the stone. A professional installer is recommended.
