Where to Buy Mosaic Tile Online: Marble, Glass and Outlet Mosaics

Mosaic tile is small pieces of stone, glass, porcelain or ceramic mounted on a mesh-backed sheet, so a pattern arrives already set. The short answer to where to buy mosaic tile online: buy from a store whose mosaic listings state the sheet size, the piece size, how the mosaic is sold (by the sheet or by a case of sheets), the material and finish, the surfaces it is listed for, and whether a sample can be ordered. Those six facts decide how many sheets a project takes and whether the pattern fits the space. As of October 2026, our mosaics collection holds more than 1,200 products. Each material also has its own collection, among them marble mosaics (about 420), glass mosaics (about 550) and porcelain mosaics (about 410); each collection is counted on its own and a product can appear in several, so the figures are not parts of one total. If you are looking for a mosaic tile store you can visit, we also have locations in Fairfax, Virginia; Carlstadt, New Jersey; and Pompano Beach, Florida.

This guide covers what to check on a mosaic listing, our mosaics by material and by pattern, how to read the size in a mosaic name, and where the outlet and clearance mosaics are. For the full checklist that applies to any tile purchase, see our guide on where to buy tile online.

Six things to check on a mosaic listing

What to check Why it matters Example from this page
Sheet size The mesh-backed sheet is the unit you count. A 12x12 sheet and a 10 3/8x12 sheet need different sheet counts for the same wall. Carrara T hexagon: a 10 3/8x12 sheet
Piece size The size of each small tile sets the scale of the pattern: a 5/8x2 herringbone looks finer than a 2x6 strip. Mink White herringbone: 5/8x2 pieces
Selling unit A mosaic can be priced per piece, per square foot or per case of sheets, which changes how a quantity is counted. Mink White: per piece; Terra Onyx: per square foot; Blizzard Blue: per case of five sheets
Material and finish Marble shows veining that changes piece to piece; glass and glazed porcelain keep an even color across the sheet. Mink White: marble, honed
Listed use A mosaic listed for walls and backsplashes is a different choice from one listed for shower floors. Paris Rock Face: backsplashes, walls, floors, shower walls
Sample A sample in hand shows the real color, sheen and chip size before the full order. Order Sample sends one full-size piece

Mosaic tile by material

Material decides how a mosaic looks up close. These are the material collections on our site, with counts as of October 2026 where we give them; each collection is counted separately.

Material Products What sets it apart
Glass mosaics About 550 Glossy, matte and metallic glass in solid colors, blends and shaped pieces
Marble mosaics About 420 Natural veining, in polished, honed and textured finishes
Porcelain mosaics About 410 Even color across the sheet, including stone and marble looks
Ceramic mosaics Smaller collection Glazed colors and shapes for walls and backsplashes
Pebble mosaics Smaller collection Natural and polished pebbles set on a sheet
Limestone mosaics Smaller collection Honed and rock face limestone finishes

Marble and glass are the two deepest groups. A marble sheet such as the honed herringbone below shows a different vein on every chip, while a glass sheet repeats one color and sheen across the whole sheet.

Blizzard Blue is the same herringbone pattern in glossy glass. It comes on an 11x13 inch sheet and is sold by the case: five sheets that together cover 4.8125 square feet, as the title states. Mink White's product page, by comparison, prices it per piece, with a packaging line of 0.9 square feet per piece. The selling unit changes how a quantity is counted.

Paris Rock Face is a limestone mosaic of 2x6 inch strips with a split, uneven face, on a 12x14 inch sheet. It is listed for backsplashes, interior walls, floors and shower walls.

Mosaic tile by pattern

The pattern collections cut across materials, so a hexagon search shows marble, porcelain and ceramic hexagons together.

Reading the size in a mosaic name

The size in a mosaic title can describe the sheet, the pieces, or both, and the convention changes from maker to maker. Four examples from this page:

  • Both sizes named: "Mink White Honed Herringbone 5/8x2 Marble Mosaics 12 1/8x13 3/8" gives the piece (5/8x2) first and the sheet (12 1/8x13 3/8) last. "Paris Rock Face 2x6 Limestone Mosaics 12x14" follows the same order.
  • Sheet only: "Carrara T Polished Hexagon Marble Mosaics 10 3/8x12" names the sheet. The hexagon size is in the product photos and description.
  • Piece only: "Terra Onyx Matte 2x2 Porcelain Mosaics" names the 2x2 inch piece.
  • Sheet and case: "Blizzard Blue 11x13 Glossy Herringbone Glass Mosaic Tile (5 pack, 4.8125 sq ft/case)" names the sheet and the coverage of one case.

When a title gives one size, open the description before counting sheets. Our guide to how much tile you need turns coverage into a sheet or case count with an allowance for cuts.

Outlet and clearance mosaics

For the outlet side of the catalog, the clearance mosaics collection, 90 products as of October 2026, holds end-of-line mosaics in marble, porcelain, glass and ceramic.

Aria Gloss/matte Interlocking Slides Glass Mosaics 12x12
Aria Gloss/matte Interlocking Slides Glass Mosaics 12x12
Glass · Gloss/Matte · 12 x 12

Aria is one of the clearance glass mosaics: interlocking glass slides in a mix of gloss and matte on a 12x12 sheet, listed for backsplashes, interior walls and shower walls.

Two points apply to clearance mosaics. An end-of-line run will not be made again, so the sheet count comes before the order; our guide to how much tile you need covers it. And under our return policy, clearance items are not returnable. If an existing floor or wall needs a match for a mosaic that has been discontinued, our guide to discontinued tile covers how to trace one.

How ordering mosaics works on our site

  1. Sample first. The Order Sample button sends one piece of that exact product. Our guide to tile samples explains how to build a board for a whole room.
  2. Order the full quantity. Shipping is calculated at checkout from weight, size and destination. Small orders and samples ship by UPS small parcel with tracking; large orders ship by LTL freight on a pallet, with a delivery appointment and curbside delivery.
  3. Inspect on delivery. Count the boxes and note any visible damage on the delivery receipt before signing. Hidden damage is reported within 7 days with photos.
  4. Returns. Returns are for the full order, requested within 30 days of delivery, in original packaging, unused and uninstalled. Approved returns may carry a restocking fee, and clearance items are excluded.

Step by step, the same process for any tile is in how to buy tile online. To compare marble mosaics with marble field tile, see buying marble tile online, and for the makers behind these products, the tile and stone brands we carry.

Where to Buy Mosaic Tile: FAQ

Are mosaics sold by the sheet or by the square foot?

Both, depending on the product. Terra Onyx shows its price per square foot, while Mink White shows a price per piece and a packaging line of 0.9 square feet per piece. Blizzard Blue is priced per case of five sheets covering 4.8125 square feet. The price line on each product page names its unit, so compare per square foot before comparing two mosaics.

Is a mosaic's coverage the same as its sheet size?

Not on every listing. Mink White's sheet is named 12 1/8x13 3/8 inches, which works out to about 1.1 square feet by its outer edges, yet its packaging line gives 0.9 square feet per piece. Herringbone and other stepped patterns have uneven edges where sheets lock together. When counting, use the packaging line's coverage figure.

Does the product page help with the quantity?

Yes. Each page has a "How much do you need?" box that takes square feet, a checkbox labeled "Add 15% for cuts & waste (recommended)", and the packaging line with square feet per piece, box or crate where the listing gives it. The total price updates from those inputs before anything is added to the cart.

Can I buy a single mosaic sheet to see the color?

Yes, through the Order Sample button on the product page, which sends one full-size piece of that product. It shows a marble mosaic's veining and tone, which change from one sheet to the next, and a glass mosaic's sheen under your own room light. Slabs are the exception: they are sampled through the request form on the slab page.

Can I see mosaics in person?

Our Fairfax, Virginia location at 2737 Dorr Ave has a 3,000 square foot showroom with design services and a sale and closeout room, and no appointment is needed, though one is encouraged for large projects. We also have locations in Carlstadt, New Jersey and Pompano Beach, Florida. Call 1-800-622-8708 before a visit to ask about a specific mosaic.
