Dark green marbles
The deep green marbles are serpentine rich stones with a dense web of lighter veins. Verde Alpi, Verde Guatemala and Verde Antiqua are almost black green with white and pale green lines. Verde Issore, Verde Tifone and Verde Levanto carry more movement, with swirled or brecciated patterns. These are the stones behind the green bar tops and fireplace surrounds that have come back into kitchens and living rooms.
White marbles with green veins
On the light side, Calacatta Green and Calacatta Green Classic have a white ground cut by thick emerald veins, and Calacatta Monet adds softer sage tones. Cipollino Verde and Cipollino Classico are banded, with layers of green and white that change with the direction of the cut. Arcadia, Matcha Green and Alga Green fall between the two groups.
Finish and thickness
Most green marble slabs here are polished, which brings out the depth of the green. A few are honed or leathered. The majority are 3/4 inch, the usual thickness for walls, vanities, fireplace surrounds and furniture tops, with a smaller group at 1 1/4 inch for countertops and islands.
