Hexagons in a quiet glaze
Mina Reliefed brings the Cloud White glaze onto a hexagon measuring 4 7/8 by 5. Six sided pieces behave differently from squares once they reach a corner, so this ceramic accent tile rewards a wall that has been set out on paper first.
Design
Geometry doing the work
A flat white glaze leaves the six sided outline as the only thing to look at, which is the point. Rounded edges throw a thin shadow where pieces meet, and because every piece meets five others rather than three, that shadow builds into a honeycomb across the surface. Bodies run 3/8 inch. Rectangular ceramic tiles in the same white are made at 4x7 1/2 and 3x6.
Five neighbours
Each hexagon touches five others, which is what gives the honeycomb its read.
Shadowed joints
Rounded edges catch a fine line of shade at every meeting point.
Where to use it
Interior walls
Residential interior walls is what sits on file, living room the noted room. Hexagons need their edges thought through, since a half hexagon at a corner looks deliberate only when it repeats. Pieces are small at 0.08 square feet. A box carries 24 of them and reaches 1.92 square feet, which puts a 60 square foot wall at 36 boxes once the usual 15 percent waste margin is applied.
Draw it first
Set out the rows on paper so cut hexagons land in a consistent place.
Box count runs high
1.92 square feet a box means a large wall needs a long order.

Care
