Mod Slate Gray brings a 12x24 matte porcelain tile format to a gray slate look with straight-cut edges. Its surface reads as layered stone rather than a flat solid color, and the restrained matte finish supports the natural character. Within the Mod Slate series, the gray field tile connects with smaller mosaic and bullnose formats.
Broad 12x24 rectangles establish longer lines and reduce the visual frequency created by smaller pieces. The V3 shade rating signals noticeable variation among tiles, giving walls and floors movement across the gray field. Approved applications include residential and commercial interior floors and walls, shower walls, and backsplashes in bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms. The IW classification confirms suitability for level interior floors that get wet.
At 0.5% or less, water absorption meets the definition of impervious porcelain, so the body takes in almost no water. Breaking strength reaches at least 325 pounds, exceeding ANSI's 250-pound minimum for floor tile. The Mohs 7 surface withstands scratching from sand and grit, while Class III abrasion resistance is appropriate for flooring throughout a home. It has Class A chemical resistance and a wet DCOF of at least 0.42, the ANSI threshold for level wet indoor floors. Frost and thermal shock resistance are also included.
Each 60-pound box contains 8 tiles and covers 15.49 square feet; the product is sold by the box with its price displayed per square foot. Gray coordinates with a 2x2 mosaic and 4x12 bullnose. Beige and Charcoal provide two additional matte colors in this size.
