This oval vessel sink is handcrafted from Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. Each one is carved from a single block of natural stone, so the veining, mineral inclusions and surface character are never repeated; even two basins cut from the same block will differ. The outside is hand split, leaving a rugged, chiseled face, and the basin inside is polished smooth. It measures 14 inches wide, 17 inches long and 6 inches high, a compact oval with a strong rustic character. Turkish marble is known for bold patterns and strong durability, and with proper care a marble sink lasts for many years in a home bathroom.
Design

The contrast between the two finishes defines this sink. Around the outside, the hand split surface catches light and shadow in the broken texture of the stone, which makes the black marble look raw and deep. Inside, the polished basin is smooth and glossy, and it shows the fine veining of the stone more clearly. The oval form softens the rugged exterior, and the curved inner walls shed water toward the drain without pooling, which also keeps splashing down. Toros Black has bold color and a strong pattern, with veining running through a deep black base. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal, and the texture of the split face is unique to each sink.

A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the sink, the plumber confirms the drain position before anything is set, and the sink is fixed in place with silicone adhesive. With a 6 inch rim, a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet is the usual pairing. Professional installation is recommended: the weight alone makes it a two-person job, and any custom cutting in the stone for faucets or drains must be done with diamond-tipped tools.

Care
Marble is a porous calcite stone. Acidic cleaners and liquids such as vinegar or lemon can etch the polished basin, and the stone is protected with a sealer. How often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
