Sirius Black marble, a 16.5 inch round bowl
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from a single block of Sirius Black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 16.5 inches in diameter and 6 inches high. The polished finish shows deep charcoal tones with natural striations running through the stone, and because each bowl is made individually, the pattern of those lines is never the same twice. Carved from one block, the sink has no seams or weak points, just solid marble from rim to base, and it sits on the counter where the whole form can be seen.
Design
Deep charcoal, polished
The sink is polished, and on black marble that finish gives the stone depth: light catches the surface, and the gray striations stand out against the charcoal. A polished face also takes in liquid more slowly than a matte one. The proportions are deliberate. At 6 inches high, the bowl is deep enough for daily washing but low enough to limit splashing, and the rounded rim and curved interior keep water from pooling at the edge. The natural color variation in the stone means no two sinks are identical, and moderate variation between pieces is normal for this marble; some carry more visible striation, some read almost solid black.

Where a vessel bowl works best
An above-counter bowl has practical advantages. It needs only a drain hole in the countertop rather than a full cutout, so the cabinet space underneath stays free for storage, and the raised basin is comfortable for washing hands or brushing teeth. It stays the clear focal point of the bathroom whether the room is modern, contemporary, transitional or traditional. Vessel sinks are at their best in powder rooms, guest baths and primary baths where the design is worth an occasional wipe around the rim; a busy family bathroom may prefer a simpler setup. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings.

Installation
A sound vanity and a tall faucet
The bowl is heavy, so it needs professional installation on a structurally sound vanity with a flat, level top. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. Because it stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a spout mounted on the wall. Decide on the faucet before the counter is drilled so the holes line up with the bowl.

Care
Sirius Black is a calcite marble, and like all marble it is porous, so acidic liquids can etch the polished surface and leave dull marks that show on black stone. Sealing forms a protective barrier, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically about once a year.
