Hand Carved Black Marble Wall Mount Bathroom Sink, installed in a room

Marble · Wall-Mount sink

Sirius Black marble with a ribbed front

This wall-mount sink is hand-carved from a single block of Sirius Black marble quarried in Turkey. It has a ribbed exterior, a curved interior basin and a 4 inch stone backsplash carved as part of the same piece, so there are no seams between the bowl and the splash. The finish is honed, a matte surface that keeps the black stone deep and quiet rather than glossy. Two sizes are available: 16 inches wide by 20 inches long, or 16 inches wide by 36 inches long, both 8 inches high. The longer version gives a primary bath a generous single basin; the shorter one suits a powder room. Because every sink is carved from its own block, no two are alike.

Design

Ribs, a curved basin and a backsplash

The ribbed exterior gives the front visual depth and a subtle sense of movement. Each rib catches a line of light against the black stone, which keeps a dark sink from reading as a flat block. Inside, the basin is curved and sculpted so water and debris run toward the drain instead of pooling in corners. The integrated 4 inch backsplash rises from the back edge in the same marble, so there is no separate splash guard to fit and no joint behind the basin to keep clean. The result is a monolithic piece: nothing to hide behind and nothing to trap dirt. Turkish marble has been used in architecture for centuries, and this black variety is chosen for its dense composition and bold character. Because the sink is individually sculpted from natural stone, color and surface vary: one sink may show deeper charcoal undertones, another subtle veining. Even two basins carved from the same block will differ, and that variation is part of the stone rather than a flaw.

Where to use it

Two lengths, one floating form

Wall-mounted sinks create a floating effect and save floor space. A 1 inch bracket gap beneath the basin leaves room for the mounting hardware while keeping the sink visually light, so the floor reads as open and the room feels larger. The 20 inch length suits smaller powder rooms; the 36 inch length gives a primary bath a long basin with room on either side of the faucet. The same sink can also sit on top of a vanity. Black marble pairs with nearly any metal finish: warm brass, nickel and matte black fixtures all work against it. The 1.77 inch drain opening takes standard drain fittings.

Sizes

16" W × 20" L × 8" H, or 16" W × 36" L × 8" H.

Installation

Backing, brackets and the faucet

Solid marble is heavy, especially at the 36 inch length, so a wall-mounted installation needs solid backing. Blocking between the studs at the mounting height is the usual preparation, and it is simplest to add while the wall is open. Brackets fit in the 1 inch gap beneath the basin. Because the backsplash rises behind the bowl, plan the faucet early: a wall-mounted faucet roughed in above the splash is the common choice, and its position should be fixed before the wall is finished. If the sink is set on a vanity instead, the top must be flat, level and strong, and the sink is bedded in silicone. A professional installer is recommended for the weight and to line up the drain and supply lines.

Why we chose it

  • One piece, no seamsBasin, ribbed front and backsplash are carved from a single block of black marble.
  • Built for decadesWith sealing, a marble sink lasts for generations and develops a patina instead of showing wear.
  • Made to orderEach sink is made to order, with custom sizes and finishes available on request.

Made to order

Two sizes, made to order

Both sizes are made to order on two schedules. For either length, the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, and the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. If neither 20 nor 36 inches fits the wall, the sink can be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the wall.

Care

Sirius Black is a calcite marble, so it is porous and acidic cleaners or spills can etch its honed surface. Periodic resealing maintains its stain resistance, and how often it is needed depends on how much the sink is used.
