Emperador and the dark browns
Emperador Dark and Emperador Scuro are the best known brown marbles: a chocolate ground with a net of thin cream and gold veins. Sahara Noir and Maroon Di Notte are darker still, close to black brown with gold lines. These stones work as a warm alternative to black, with the same depth and a softer contrast against wood and brass.
Breccias and warm browns
Breccia Oniciata, Breccia Di Arzo and Collemandina are breccias, made of broken pieces of stone set in a finer matrix. The slab looks like a collage of rounded and angular fragments in honey, rust, cream and brown. Bronze Armani, Cedar Brown and Brown Fantasy have a more veined, flowing pattern. Eramosa Vein Cut shows straight layers because it is cut along the bed of the stone.
Finish and thickness
Most brown marble slabs here are polished, a smaller group honed, with a few brushed or leathered for a textured face. The larger share is 1 1/4 inch for countertops, islands and bar tops, and the rest 3/4 inch for walls, vanities and fireplaces.
