Gray quartzite range
Gray quartzites run from pale silver to dark smoke. London Gray and Smoky are soft, cloudy grays with light veining. Cristallo Smoke is a translucent gray with a crystal face. Dolce Vita and Santorini carry stronger veins in gray and white, while Macaubas Select and Blue Avio show the banding of the Macaubas quarries with a blue gray cast. Meridian and Nuage Macchia Oro add gold and beige lines.
Why gray quartzite
Gray is the neutral that works in both a kitchen and a bathroom, and quartzite makes it hard enough for daily use. It does not etch from acids the way marble does and resists scratches, so a gray quartzite is a practical way to get a marble like gray on a working countertop.
Finish and thickness
Most gray quartzite slabs here are polished. Leathered and textured faces are available on several stones for a soft, brushed look that hides fingerprints. Nearly all are 1 1/4 inch for countertops and islands, with a few at 3/4 inch for walls and vanities.
