Alexandrette black marble on the wall
This rectangular wall-mount sink is carved by hand from Alexandrette black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 30 inches long, 18 inches wide and 7 inches high, and it is polished to a deep gloss. Natural white veining crosses the black stone, and because each sink is shaped and finished individually, no two are identical.
Design
Polished black with white veins
The polished black finish gives the marble depth, and the white veining stands out against it in bold lines that catch the light. Its edges are curved and its construction is smooth, which leaves no hard-to-clean corners where dirt can build up. Because each sink is carved from its own block of marble, the vein pattern differs from piece to piece. Moderate color variation is normal for this stone and makes each sink one of a kind.

Where to use it
A modern wall-mount basin
The sink is made for wall mounting, and it can also sit on top of a vanity. Hung on the wall, it leaves the floor open. At 30 by 18 inches it suits a primary bath or a larger guest bath, and the black stone suits contemporary and minimalist rooms. The 1.77 inch drain hole accepts hidden removable drain systems, which keep the plumbing out of sight and the lines of the stone uninterrupted. The sink allows 1 inch of space for the mounting brackets.

Installation
Back the wall before tile
Solid marble is heavy, and a 30 inch sink carries a lot of it. For a wall-mount installation, add blocking between the studs at the mounting height while the wall is open, and fix the brackets into it rather than into drywall alone. For an above-vanity installation, the top must be flat, level and strong enough for the weight, and the sink is set in silicone over a matching drain hole. Plan the faucet early: a wall-mounted faucet needs its supply lines in the wall before tile goes up. A professional installer is recommended.

Care
Alexandrette is a polished calcite marble. It is porous, so acidic products such as lemon juice, vinegar or acidic soaps can etch the polish, and sealing slows water absorption and staining. How often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
