Bianco Gold marble in a polished oval
This oval vessel sink is handcrafted from Bianco Gold marble quarried in Turkey. Golden and cream-white veins run through the stone in their own pattern on every piece, so each sink is a one-off rather than a production item. The subtle shifts in tone and veining are the mark of natural stone and of a sink carved by hand. It sits on top of a vanity or console counter, where its sculptural shape becomes the focus of the bathroom.
Design
An elongated, polished bowl
The silhouette is an elongated oval, 22.4 inches long, 15.7 inches wide and 5.5 inches high, with refined proportions that read as a sculpture as much as a basin. The walls curve gently down into a smooth interior with no seams, so water flows toward the drain without pooling. The finish is polished inside and out. Polish draws out the gold and cream in the veining and reflects light across the stone, and its glow changes with the time of day and the bathroom lighting. Smooth polished surfaces also keep dirt from collecting in corners and along the edges. Moderate variation in tone and veining between pieces is normal for this marble, and over the years the stone develops a subtle patina that adds to its character.

Where to use it
On a vanity or a console
The sink is made for above-counter mounting on a vanity or a console table. It sits on top of the cabinetry, so no undermount hardware or complicated fabrication is needed, and the counter stays visible around the curved edges of the bowl. Raised above the counter, the oval gets the most visual presence it can. The warm golden veining suits traditional, contemporary, transitional and minimalist bathrooms alike. Paired with brass or gold fittings, it reads as rich and warm; left on its own with simple fittings, it becomes a neutral sculptural element. Marble also handles hot water and temperature changes well without warping. The 1.5 inch drain hole takes standard vessel sink drain assemblies.

Installation
Plan the counter and faucet together
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter or console must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A hole is cut in the counter to line up with the drain, and the sink is set in silicone. The rim stands 5.5 inches above the counter, which means the faucet has to reach over it: a tall vessel faucet on the deck or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut so the holes line up, and check the combined height of console and bowl for comfortable use.

Care
Bianco Gold is a porous calcite marble, so acidic cleaners such as vinegar or lemon juice can etch the polish and abrasive pads can dull it. Sealing helps keep water and stains out, and how often it is resealed depends on use, often once or twice a year.
