This end table is handmade from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey and finished with a polish that brings the veining forward. Bold veins sweep across the stone, and because every block is different, no two tables share the same pattern. Design

Two tiers in polished marble

The table is built in two tiers. The upper surface holds a lamp, a book or a glass of water, and the open shelf below takes a stack of books, a woven basket or a single sculptural object. Calacatta Viola is a natural calcite marble with a polished surface. Like all marble it is porous, so acidic drinks and foods can etch the polish and strong pigments can stain it if left to sit. Sealing helps the stone resist stains, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the table is used. With age the surface develops a soft patina, and minor marks can be professionally restored because the table is solid stone.
