Marble · Over-Countertop sink
An oval vessel in Carrara White
This oval vessel sink is carved by hand from Carrara White marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 16 inches wide, 21 inches long and 6 inches high, with walls 2 to 3 cm thick, and it sits on top of the counter as the centre of the vanity. Each sink has its own veining and colour variation, so no two pieces are identical. It is solid natural marble, made one at a time.
Design
Polished white with soft curves
The finish is polished, which gives the white marble a bright, smooth face and brings its gray veining forward. The polished bowl is easy to clean and leaves little for residue to cling to. The oval outline and curved edges reduce water pooling and simplify daily cleaning, and the open bowl has no overflow. The 6 inch height gives the basin real depth, so it splashes less than a shallow bowl and leaves more room to work. Variations in the veining are not defects; they come from the stone itself and from the carving, and they make each sink individual.

Where to use it
Depth for daily use
At 16 by 21 inches, the oval suits a powder room as well as a primary bath vanity. It sits on top of the counter, so it reads as a carved bowl rather than a hole in the vanity. White marble works with wood, plaster or painted cabinets and with almost any fitting finish. The 4 cm drain opening takes standard drain fittings without special parts. Faucet choice is simple: a standard single-hole vessel faucet, or a wall-mounted spout.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
The sink is installed over the countertop. Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry it. A drain hole is cut to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet must reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. Pick the faucet before the counter is cut so the hole and the reach match.

Care
Carrara White is a porous calcite marble with a polished surface. Acidic liquids can etch the polish, and sealing keeps stains at the surface rather than letting them soak in. How often it is resealed depends on use, often every 9 to 12 months.
