Calacatta Viola, a small honed rectangle
This compact wall-hung sink is carved by hand from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 18 inches long, 14 inches wide and 5 inches high, a size made for powder rooms, guest baths and other bathrooms where floor space is tight. The stone has a creamy white base crossed by gray and charcoal veining, and the veins run differently through every block, so no two sinks share the same pattern. The finish is honed, the form is a clean rectangle, and the whole sink is one solid piece of marble.
Design

Calacatta Viola is chosen for its veining: bold gray streaks that move across a pale base and give even a small sink a strong presence on the wall. Those lines are the record of how the stone formed, and they are different in every piece. The surface is honed to a matte finish rather than a gloss. A honed face shows fewer fingerprints and water spots than a glossy one, and it also makes minor scratches and light etch marks less visible over time, which is why it suits a sink that gets used every day. Each basin is carved individually, so small differences in the curve of the bowl, the thickness of the rim and the texture of the surface are part of the handwork. The edges are smooth and rounded, pleasant to touch and easier to keep clean than sharp corners. Moderate color variation between sinks is normal for this marble.

Where to use it
Made for small bathrooms
Hung on the wall, the sink leaves the floor open beneath it. In a compact powder room that open space is the main benefit: the room reads larger, the floor is easier to clean, and the sink becomes the clear focal point. The rectangular form and clean lines sit well in contemporary and minimalist bathrooms, and the warm marble keeps it from feeling cold in a transitional room. At 18 by 14 inches, it is large enough for comfortable hand and face washing and small enough for a guest bath. It also works in a primary bath where the design matters more than vanity storage. The 1.5 inch drain hole takes standard drain fittings, and the sink pairs well with a brass or minimalist wall faucet.

Installation
Blocking first, then brackets
This is a wall-hung sink, so the wall carries all of its weight. Solid marble is heavy even in a compact size, and the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height before the sink goes up. That blocking is simplest to add while the wall is open. The sink is then fixed to brackets anchored into it. Because there is no counter around the basin, the faucet is normally mounted on the wall above it, and its position and supply lines should be planned before the wall is finished. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight and so the drain and supply lines line up with the sink.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble with a honed surface. Like all marble it is porous, so acids can etch it and strong pigments can stain it if left to sit. Sealing gives the stone stain resistance, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
