Calacatta Viola, fluted and 55 inches long
This long wall-mount vanity sink is carved from Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey and finished by hand. It measures 55 inches long, 20 inches wide and 6 inches high, enough length for two people to use it side by side on a busy morning. The front carries fluted detailing, the back rises into an integrated backsplash, and the whole piece is polished. The stone has a white base with gray veining, and because every block of marble is different, each sink carries its own pattern of veins.
Design
Vertical flutes and a polished face
The fluting is the detail people notice first. Vertical grooves are carved into the stone, giving the long front a steady rhythm and breaking up what would otherwise be a plain slab of marble. The grooves also catch light and shadow, so the face of the sink changes as daylight moves through the room. Both the interior and the exterior are polished, which brings out the contrast between the white base and the gray veins and gives the stone a glossy, reflective surface. At the back, the integrated backsplash rises from the basin as part of the same stone, so there is no separate joint where the wall meets the sink, and splashes land on marble rather than on the wall behind it. The veining is natural, so its direction, tone and density differ from sink to sink, and moderate color variation between pieces is expected for this marble.

Where to use it
A long sink for a primary bath
At 55 inches long, this sink is built for a primary bathroom, where two people often need the vanity at the same time. Hung on the wall, it keeps the floor clear underneath, and the open space makes the room feel wider. Minimal cabinetry, open shelving or simple legs keep the attention on the stone, which suits transitional and modern bathrooms with a calm palette. The sink can also be set on a countertop if a vanity cabinet below is preferred. The drain opening is 1.5 inches and takes standard plumbing fittings, so it connects to ordinary supply and drain systems without custom parts. This is a heavy, permanent fixture: It suits a bathroom planned around it more than a quick refresh, and it is a less natural fit for a children's bathroom or a rental.

Installation
Plan the wall for a long stone
A 55 inch marble sink is heavy, so a wall-mounted installation needs solid backing across its whole length. The wall should have blocking between the studs at the mounting height, which is simplest to add while the wall is open, and the sink hangs on brackets fixed into that blocking. Because the backsplash sits against the wall, the faucet is usually wall-mounted, and its position and the supply lines are best planned before the wall is closed. If the sink is set on a countertop instead, the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight and so the drain and supply lines line up cleanly with the sink.

Care
Calacatta Viola is a calcite marble with a polished surface. Like all marble it is porous and naturally absorbent, so acids such as wine, citrus or vinegar can etch it and strong pigments can stain it. Sealing builds a protective barrier, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
