Carrara White Waterfall, a round marble bowl
This 17 inch round sink is carved by hand from Carrara White marble quarried in Turkey. Carrara is known for soft, linear veins rather than bold ones, and here they run in light gray lines across a bright white base, a quiet, classic look that sits comfortably in modern, transitional and traditional rooms. Each sink is made from natural stone, so the veining, color and pattern cannot be copied, and no two pieces are identical. What arrives is a one-of-a-kind piece of marble with its own geological history, made to be used every day.
Design
A glossy white bowl with gray lines
The finish is polished inside and out, giving the marble a classic, glossy and reflective surface. A polish closes the face of the stone more tightly than a matte finish, which helps the bowl hold up to water marks and day-to-day dirt and keeps the white looking bright. The edges are curved and the construction is smooth, with no crevices where soap residue and debris can settle, so daily cleaning is simple and there are no hard-to-reach corners. The round form is clean and simple, which lets the soft gray veining do the work. Moderate color variation between sinks is normal for this stone. The white base and the placement of the veins will differ from piece to piece, and that is part of the character of real marble. Marble also takes changes in water temperature well, so moving between hot and cold water puts no unusual stress on the bowl.

On the counter or set into it
The 17 inch diameter gives a generous basin for washing, and the 6 inch height keeps the rim at a comfortable reach on a standard vanity. The sink is made for two kinds of installation. It can sit on top of the counter as a vessel, where the whole carved bowl stays on view, or it can be dropped into a counter opening for a lower, more built-in profile. It is listed for both bathroom and kitchen use. The 4 cm drain hole accepts standard drain fittings without custom work. The soft white and gray pair with satin brass for warm contrast, with chrome for a clean, minimal look, or with bronze fixtures in a traditional room, and the bowl fits a spa-like bathroom as easily as a more eclectic one.

Installation
Two ways to set it
Solid marble is heavy, so whichever installation is chosen, the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone. Set above the counter, the bowl rests over a drain hole cut to line up with its 4 cm drain and is bedded in silicone. In that position the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. As a drop-in, the counter opening is cut to fit the bowl, which then sits lower in the counter, and the faucet choice changes with it. Decide on the installation and the faucet together, before the counter is cut, and have the opening sized from the sink itself.

Care
Carrara White is a porous calcite marble, so acids such as vinegar or lemon can etch the polished surface and strong pigments can stain it. Sealing at installation helps keep liquids out, and how often it is resealed after that depends on use.
