A round onyx bowl that carries light
This round vessel sink is carved by hand from onyx quarried in Turkey. The stone has a beige and grey ground with veining in cream and charcoal, and like most onyx it is translucent in its thinner sections, so light passing through the walls of the bowl brings out layers that a solid opaque stone would hide. The pattern shifts with the angle and with the light in the room. Each piece is shaped individually, which means no two bowls are identical. The finish is polished, and the sink arrives sealed. At 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, it reads as a clear focal point without crowding the vanity.
Design
Translucent layers, polished
Onyx forms in fine bands, and carving a bowl from it exposes those bands as curving lines around the basin. The polish makes the surface smooth and glossy and lets the light move into the stone instead of stopping at a matte face. When a lamp or a window sits near the vanity, the walls of the bowl take on a soft glow. The rim is refined and the edges are smooth and curved, so the bowl feels comfortable to the hand and has no sharp corners where residue can settle. Every curve is shaped by hand rather than by an automated line, and that shows in the smooth basin and the even rim. Each bowl shows its own veining, its own color intensity and its own degree of translucency, so the piece that arrives will differ from the product photos. That moderate variation is part of the material, not a defect.

Bathroom or kitchen, above or below
The bowl is listed for both bathroom and kitchen use, and it suits more than one kind of installation. Mounted above the counter, it shows the full carved exterior and the translucency of the walls. Set as an undermount sink, it sits below the counter edge for a cleaner, flush top. The 16 inch round shape works on a floating vanity, on traditional cabinetry or on a built-in counter. A standard 1.5 inch drain hole accepts common drain components without custom modifications. Onyx is also temperature stable in everyday use, comfortable with cold water and warm water at the tap.

Two ways to set the bowl
Solid stone is heavy, so in either installation the counter must be flat, level and strong. Above the counter, a single hole is cut to line up with the drain and the bowl is set in silicone; because the rim stands 6 inches above the counter, it needs a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. As an undermount sink, the counter cutout is sized to the bowl and the sink is supported from below, with the faucet mounted on the counter or the wall. A stone fabricator or installer should handle the cutout and the support so the drain lines up cleanly.

Care
Onyx is a calcite stone, and like marble it is porous and softer than it looks. Acids such as vinegar or lemon can etch the polished surface. The sink arrives sealed, and how often it is resealed depends on use, often about once a year.
