Light beige travertine with a sloped rim
This round vessel sink is hand-carved in Turkey from light beige travertine. Its rim is not level: one side stands 8 inches high and the other 6 inches, so the bowl slopes across its 16 inch diameter. The stone carries natural fossils and veining, and because each sink is cut from its own block, the pattern is never repeated exactly.
Design
A sloped bowl in honed travertine
The two rim heights give the sink its character. From the side, the rim rises from 6 to 8 inches, which turns a simple round bowl into a modern, slightly asymmetrical form. Inside, the basin is contoured toward the drain. A flat-bottomed bowl can leave water standing in the middle, along with toothpaste foam and shaving residue; here the sloped interior guides water to the 4 cm drain, so less is left behind to wipe away. The edges are curved and smooth, with no sharp corners where dirt can settle. The finish is honed-matte, a flat surface with a soft, low sheen rather than a gloss. Honing gives the travertine a quiet, natural look, hides water marks and light scratches well and keeps the mineral deposits of hard water less visible. The walls are 2 to 3 cm thick. The light beige has warm undertones, and the natural variation across the stone surface is part of the material rather than a flaw.

Where the sloped bowl fits
The light beige and warm undertones give a bathroom a calm, spa-like feel, and the sloped outline keeps the bowl modern. It pairs with oak or walnut vanities, plaster walls, stone or concrete counters and satin brass or matte black fixtures. At 16 inches across, the sink fits a range of vanity sizes without crowding a compact powder room, and it is large enough for a primary bath. Because it sits on top of the counter, there are no changes to the counter structure beyond the drain hole: if the bathroom is reworked later, the sink lifts away cleanly. The standard 4 cm drain hole works with conventional drain fittings without adaptation.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
A vessel sink is among the simplest to install, but solid travertine is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A small hole is drilled in the counter for the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. Plan the faucet with the sloped rim in mind: the spout must reach over the higher side as well as the lower one, so a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet is the usual choice. Decide on the faucet and its position before the counter is drilled.

The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, and a honed surface is more open than a glossy one, so acids can etch it and stains can set in if the stone is left unsealed. Sealing protects it, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
