Afyon Sugar marble, one round bowl
This round vessel sink is carved from a single solid block of Afyon Sugar marble, quarried in the Afyon region of Turkey, a source that has supplied white marble for centuries. Each bowl is sculpted individually, so the sink that arrives is its own piece of stone. The base is a creamy white, crossed by warm golden and beige veining, and it measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high.
Design
Creamy white with golden veins
Afyon Sugar takes its name from its fine, sugary grain and its clean white ground. Through that white run soft veins of gold and beige, warm rather than cold, so the bowl looks bright without looking stark. The finish is polished inside and out, a smooth, reflective surface that brings the veining forward and catches the light from a window or a mirror lamp. The bowl itself is a simple round with curved walls, which makes it easy to clean and lets water run to the drain instead of pooling. The walls are 2 to 3 cm thick, solid marble from rim to base. Every block has its own veining, colour and organic pattern, so tone and veining shift from piece to piece. Moderate colour variation is normal for this stone, and the differences are part of the marble rather than defects.

Where to use it
A white bowl for a modern vanity
The style is modern, but the warm veining lets the bowl sit just as easily in minimalist, Mediterranean, contemporary or traditional bathrooms. It reads well on a dark wood or painted vanity, where the white stands out, and on a pale stone counter, where it blends in quietly. At 16 inches across and 6 inches high, the bowl has a clear visual presence and still leaves working counter space on a standard vanity. Because it sits on top of the counter, the whole carved form stays visible. The 4 cm drain opening takes standard plumbing fittings.

Installation
Set it on a flat counter
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the bowl. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. Because the bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, the faucet needs to reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut, so the two holes are placed together.

Care
Afyon Sugar is a calcite marble, and like all marble it is a porous stone: acids such as lemon or vinegar can etch the polished surface, and toothpaste, soap and cosmetics can stain it if the stone is left unsealed. Sealing keeps it protected, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically once or twice a year.
