A 14 inch travertine vessel bowl
This round vessel sink is handcrafted from classic beige travertine quarried in Turkey. It is the genuine stone, carved from a single block rather than molded, and it brings the layered, geological character of travertine to the vanity. At 14 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, it is roomy enough for comfortable daily use and compact enough to leave counter space around it. The surface is honed and filled, a matte finish with the natural pores of the stone filled level, which keeps the warm, organic look of travertine while giving the bowl a smooth surface. Natural variation in tone and pattern is part of the material, and it is the clearest sign that the bowl is real stone.
Design
Honed, filled and warm
Honed travertine has a soft matte surface that does not show water spots as readily as a glossy finish, and its warm tone never reads cold or clinical. Filling the pores closes the small voids that open travertine has, so there are fewer hiding places for debris and the stone wipes down more easily. The edges are thick and hand curved, which helps them resist chipping and gives the bowl a substantial feel. Each sink shows natural veining and moderate color variation, from light sand to warmer beige, so the pattern of one bowl will not repeat on another. Turkish travertine is known for this kind of movement: soft bands and veins that run across the bowl and change direction where the stone was laid down. Over years of use, a honed and filled surface develops a gentle patina rather than looking worn, and solid stone of this thickness is built to serve a bathroom for decades.

A compact bowl for the bath
The beige tone anchors a minimalist modern bathroom just as easily as a traditional one with vintage fixtures. On a walnut vanity, reclaimed wood or a painted lacquer top, the stone adjusts rather than clashes. The 14 inch diameter suits powder rooms, guest baths and narrower vanities where a larger bowl would crowd the counter, while the 6 inch height gives the basin real depth for washing. Because the bowl sits on top of the counter, the area around it stays open and easy to clean, without trapped water at a hidden rim. A standard 4 cm drain hole takes a regular vessel drain.

Installation
What the counter needs
As an above-counter vessel, this sink needs no cutout beyond a drain hole, and no changes under the counter. The countertop must be flat, level and strong enough to carry solid stone, with the drain hole cut to line up with the bowl. The sink is then set in a bead of silicone. With a 6 inch rim height, a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet is the usual choice, and the faucet position should be settled before the counter is drilled. A contractor can usually complete the job in a few hours, and a professional installer is recommended so the drain lines up cleanly.

Care
Travertine is a porous calcite stone, and acidic substances such as wine, coffee, fruit juice, tomato, soda and some toiletry and cleaning products can etch its finish. The sink is protected with a stone sealer, and how often it is resealed depends on how much it is used.
